Acknowledgement is made to the
NSW State Archives for permission to publish
many of the photographs in the book,
playing an important part in the research,
and also to the very obliging and
understanding staff at the State Libraries
of NSW and Queensland,
for their courteous and patient help.

Thanks are made to the cheerful volunteers
at the Richmond River, Alstonville Plateau,
Brunswick Valley and
Bangalow Historical Societies.
Use of their photographs and assistance with
research has been invaluable.

However, as some of the published photographs
are of uncertain vintage and procured from
obscure sources, often the quality is not all that
could be desired for publication.

Finally, so many other people have
helped the researcher in this project that
any attempt to name them all and thank them
openly would be futile,
